I thought shingles went on the roof?

My child has shingles. Yes, the old people skin irritating virus. No, he's not secretly an old man, he's 1 1/2, but I guess shingles is the new thing for kiddos to have these days. So he's pretty much a trend setter - something I already knew since he's had pretty much everything under the sun before all of his friends and cousins. Of course Matt and I thought he just had a bad case of eczema; we pretty much felt like the worst parents ever when we found out how severe his little rash was.

So in his short little 18 1/2 month life, he has had:
Shingles
Hand Foot & Mouth (2-3 times)
Ring Worm
Pnemonia
Croup
Acid Reflux (diagnosed at 3 weeks old)
More ear infections that I could count
And a horrible digestive system that results in either diarrhea or constipation
(and probably a few other minor illnesses that I am too tired to remember)

On a brighter note, his vocabulary is really improving each day. My favorite thing that he says: HIIII RY-EEEE! or BYEEEE RY-EEEEE! And he waves when he says it...LOVE IT!

So we are just chillen at home with a sick little boy for the time being. I guess I can't complain because when he's sick, the snuggles are a lot more frequent :)

  1. Aww! Poor guy :(. Tatum had shingles at 22 months old too! And I was just like you thinking it was her eczema so don't beat yourself up over it. I wish I understand how they can get that when they are so little and haven't had the chicken pox yet. Hope he feels better soon!
